To celebrate World Book Day which happened at the weekend (23rd April) the board now contains some information about 6 of the most famous British authors from the 16th century up until now. There are some quotes from the authors as well as information about their lives, books and also screen adaptations of their most famous novels.

I chose these authors as they display a range of different genres; from Shakespeare's tragedies and comedies to the detective novels of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and Agatha Christie; the spy novels written by Ian Fleming to the fantasy worlds of magic and mystical creatures of J.R.R. Tolkien and J.K. Rowling. These 6 authors have each contributed a large amount to both historic and modern day British literature and have also had a major impact on the global film industry.
Here is the famous balcony scene from William Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet". Due to it being a play written in the 16th century, the difference in the language is evident to hear as Shakespeare used Old English in his works. Even nowadays plays are performed using this older version of the English language.
